We are getting a really bad one here today. The wind is blowing about 40 miles an hour and it is raining with vigor.

When I moved here 25 years ago, I remember getting these November storms. I lived in Seattle at the time and inevitably the power would go out.

I would load up the fireplace with firewood to keep the place warm. Then I would go on a writing campaign. I would write long letters to my grandmother. She loved to read them.

I remember visiting her one time and she had those letters stacked proudly in the dining room in the order they came. I choked up a little seeing those letters. They meant a lot to her.

I miss writing letters, I love the feel of a nice pencil in my hand.

And of course, I miss my grandmother.

And it all comes full circle as our daughter and family. in Seattle just sent us photos of their camping night. They are without power on this fierce and blustery night. I believe Arthur, the three year old, is treating it as an adventure.

The neighborhood did lose power, but she said “just a bit of wind” so maybe the area of Seattle made a big difference!

I would love to hear you opinion as well

His friends observe Mark seems wired a little differently. Perhaps it’s more likely that noticing little things often missed by others is a relic of a quieter, simpler time. He has a way with words, which he refuses to let be hindered by sub-par typing skills. People have great stories to tell if you sit and listen.

A belief dear to Mark is that there is certain beauty in the world. You simply have to look for it.
