Name the most expensive personal item you’ve ever purchased (not your home or car).

When I was in my early teens, I decided I wanted a real nice stereo system. I did my research, and walked into Radio Shack and bought a system. It had a receiver, 80 watts per channel, an amplifier, a nice turntable and two awesome speakers.

The system cost me over a thousand dollars. This was on a paper boys salary of fifty dollars a week.

I paid it off in about six months and played that system for many years to come. I remember configuring the system and I was so happy to hear music come out of the speakers.

The first song to play through those speakers was Janis Ian ‘s lovely ballad “At Seventeen”

…I learned the truth at seventeen
That love was meant for beauty queens
And high school girls with clear skinned smiles
Who married young and then retired
The valentines I never knew
The Friday night charades of youth
Were spent on one more beautiful
At seventeen I learned the truth…

Nice movement in your drawing, and your post makes me miss stand-alone stereos.

I would love to hear you opinion as well

His friends observe Mark seems wired a little differently. Perhaps it’s more likely that noticing little things often missed by others is a relic of a quieter, simpler time. He has a way with words, which he refuses to let be hindered by sub-par typing skills. People have great stories to tell if you sit and listen.

A belief dear to Mark is that there is certain beauty in the world. You simply have to look for it.
