Time Honored Cliche

What are the most important things needed to live a good life?

There is a distinction between a good life and a great life. It basically goes back to Abraham Maslow and his hierarchy of needs.

  • Maslow’s hierarchy of needs is a motivational theory in psychology comprising a five-tier model of human needs, often depicted as hierarchical levels within a pyramid.
  • The five levels of the hierarchy are physiological, safety, love/belonging, esteem, and self-actualization.
  • Lower-level basic needs like food, water, and safety must be met first before higher needs can be fulfilled.

However Maslow forgets one basic notion and that is Hope. Having our health is a time honored, often cliched need. Still we all need that sliver of hope to make all else worth living for.

His friends observe Mark seems wired a little differently. Perhaps it’s more likely that noticing little things often missed by others is a relic of a quieter, simpler time. He has a way with words, which he refuses to let be hindered by sub-par typing skills. People have great stories to tell if you sit and listen.

A belief dear to Mark is that there is certain beauty in the world. You simply have to look for it.
