Alyosha the Pot

I do like to read short stories and I certainly like to write them. One of my favorites is “Alyosha The Pot”

Leo Tolstoy

Alyosha the Pot” is a 1905 story by Leo Tolstoy. Its titular character is a peasant who was given his nickname when, as a young boy, he broke a pot of milk that he was supposed to deliver. Alyosha is awkward, not good at school, and frequently teased and bossed around. He has, however, an obliging and cheerful disposition.

I love this story for its simplicity and its message. Alyosha is a a simple man, a kind human with simple desires and a hard worker non the less.

These attributes in this Russian society were not enough when he fell in love and wanted more in life. The lesson I take from this is “Life isn’t Fair” and it is our duty to make it more fair for all.

I’m Mark

His friends observe Mark seems wired a little differently. Perhaps it’s more likely that noticing little things often missed by others is a relic of a quieter, simpler time. He has a way with words, which he refuses to let be hindered by sub-par typing skills. People have great stories to tell if you sit and listen.

A belief dear to Mark is that there is certain beauty in the world. You simply have to look for it.
